My Approach

Hi, I’m Carter. I work with adults, teens, children, and families through a wide range of issues. I pull from a variety of therapeutic modalities and methods to best serve each client in achieving their goals.

Some approaches that I have found complement Somatic Psychotherapy include Play Therapy, Parts Work, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Transpersonal Psychology, and Psychodynamics.

In our sessions, I integrate breath work, movement, vocal and creative expression, mindfulness practices, and traditional talk therapy to create a holistic approach to psychotherapy. This synthesis can look different for every client; it is a personalized journey towards self-discovery, healing, and resilience.

ADHD and Somatics

Somatic therapy can be especially powerful for those with ADD/ADHD. Growing up neurodivergent often results in painful internalized messages of not feeling good enough. In addition to healing these wounds, somatic approaches can also support treatment of the symptoms of ADD and ADHD. Breath work and movement are examples of tools that can naturally support stimulating focus as well as regulating excess energy.

My Background

In addition to my clinical work, I’ve had more than 15 years of training in creative expression. My background in theater and vocal production taught me the power of the mind-body connection. Before pursuing my Counseling Master’s in Somatic Psychology, I taught therapeutic theater to teens in residential psychiatric treatment in North Carolina.

I work in deep connection to nature. I acquired transpersonal psychology training from spiritual teachers in Mexico and Brazil. I weave these experiences together with my yogic training to deepen my holistic approach to healing.

I currently see clients in private practice under the supervision of trauma specialist Eugene Porter. I am available for both in-person or virtual sessions. My office is in Marin County.

My assistant Suki is a trained service dog, available on request to provide co-regulation and comfort
